A year in the life of a student-athlete beach volleyball

OFF-SEASON

We leave Italy at the end of the summer and arrive at the college at the beginning of university classes, usually in the first days of September. During the first few weeks there is an adaptation to the rhythms of study and sport with training geared more on the physical and technical part and not particularly demanding in terms of quantity and intensity because we are in the period without official competitions said
off-season
.

PRE-SEASON

As the semester progresses, the training becomes more intense and more frequent and you begin to prepare with some tournaments that take place towards the end of the Fall semester (November-December). In the meantime, of course, we continue to attend classes and before leaving for the holidays there are exams to be taken to close the academic part of the Fall semester, usually towards the end of November and the beginning of December.

SEASON

After the Christmas break, we go back to college, classes resume and we begin a very intense preparation that lasts a few weeks, after which from the end of February the first official tournaments outside the Conference to which they belong begin.

Towards the end of March, the season is high with the first tournaments against opponents from the same Conference. The game continues to alternate between Conference tournaments and non-Conference tournaments until the end of April when the Conference Championships will decide the best teams that will compete for the national title at the beginning of May. The first half of May is also the period of the final exams that decree the end of the semester and the beginning of the holidays.
