Italian Recruiting Trip
Showcase: June 9-11, 2025
Note that MALE SHOWCASE will follow up on JUNE 11-13 2025
Last update: December 2, 2024
SHOWCASE INFO
The purpose of this event is to connect prospective volleyball student-athletes with college coaches. Italy has a fantastic volleyball tradition with many up-and-coming athletes looking for programs at the collegiate level. The location just outside the Eternal City will allow coaches to also do some sightseeing on top of evaluating great athletes. We are expecting about 30 selected top-level athletes coaches will see practicing 3 times in 2 days. Practices will include height and jumping measurements and the possibility to meet, within recruiting protocols, on one-on-one meetings.
Coaches roundtable with Luca Cristofani
After dinner, coaches will have the opportunity to sit down together with Luca Cristofani in an informal and always interesting roundtable to exchange experiences of the highest level of Italian volleyball with one of the most decorated Italian coaches. Luca has won all titles the Italian volleyball system can offer (except for the A1 as of today): he has won 15 Italian juniors championships, the first one back in 1995. He’s also won the Serie C, Series B2, B1 and the A2 three times, the last one during season 2020- 2021 with the Roma Volley Team, taking the wolves to the Serie A1 after 25 years. During the 2021-2022 season he was the Head Coach of Bartoccini Fortinfissi Perugia Volleyball Team competing in the Italian Lega di Pallavolo di Serie A1.
He was also the Head Coach of the Peruvian National Team in 2011-2012 and assistant coach in the Italian Senior National Team who won the Mediterranean Games in 2013. During the summer 2023 Luca was also the technical director of the men’s and women’s junior and senior teams of Puerto Rico. In the Pan-American Volleyball Cup the women’s senior team finished as runners-up for the third time in its history, after defeating for the first time the Dominican Republic in the semifinals. They finished the season 16th on the FIVB World Ranking.
He coached the Italian U23, U20 and U18 teams for 7 seasons and is the current (and for the past 9 seasons) Technical Director of Volleyrò Casal de Pazzi.
